Sunday, on my way to our first ever Devoted worship service, I was rehearsing my lesson for the service, when I noticed a young lady walking along side of the road. The key is that I noticed her when so often I drive by someone in need. I asked her if she needed a ride. She replied yes.
On her way across the road, she was honked at by another car and then she promptly cussed. I knew this might be a difficult person to share my story with but I knew we are commanded to "go tell". I began to share my story of how God changed my purpose in life from one who pursued empty worldly desires to one who pursues Christ daily.
She began to cry and said "I just need to go see my momma." I assured her that I would get her home and told her just as your mom will take you as you are - God will too. I told her that God loves her and wants to change her from the inside but you must believe that His son is the only way to be in a relationship with the Father. She said "I just don't know how to do that."
I said it is simple you must believe that God sent his Son to this earth to save people that mess up like you and me. You must believe that Jesus died on a cross for our mess ups and God raised him from the dead 3 days later. I said it sounds simple and it is but it is a choice and many people choose not to believe that God can take you from where you are and change you.
She wasn't ready that day but I believe God had me pick her up for a reason and I left hurting and praying for her. I realized God hurts much more when we deny him and when we let him down.
If you are reading this - don't let God down. He created you for a purpose and He love you very much.
In Christ, John Gibson
